Paper Bag Album - Harley

This album was a gift for a friends husband. He owns a Harley. I didn't have any photos so I tried to keep it simple so that it would be easy for them to add them. 

Several years ago I made a clock and mini album for my uncle, who also has a Harley. Everything I used in this album was what I had left over from the things I had purchased at that time. The outside cover is a piece of diamond tin. I had just enough to make the cover and a small tag for inside the album.

Pink Mini's for a Cure Fundrasier

Most of you may know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a cause very close to my heart as both my grandmother, mother, and several other close family friends have died of this disease. I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in a "mini album" challenge that Laura at Following the Paper Trail is hosting. Myself and 20+ other extremely talented women created "Pink Mini Albums for a Cure". Laura is hosting a silent auction on her blog form Oct. 31st until Nov. 7th. All proceeds raised will go to the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Foundation. Check it out!

The front cover says "Sweet Things".  That was my theme and most of the elements used in the album are "sweet things". (Click on any photo to see it in a larger format.)

This is a close-up of the three charms that I attached to the metal ring, that is holding the mini together.  I have also attached a ton of ribbons and fibers to conceal the ring.

This is a close-up of the tags from page eleven. Two of the tags are clear acetate with stamped images on them. There is a small flap on page twelve that has room to journal on.

Happy Halloween!

I loved the mini Halloween album that I made so much that I decided to make a second one. I used 5 small envelopes for the body of the album and the Recollections Halloween paper pack from Michaels.

These are the first two pages. The tags have journaling spots on the back and I added a little stickles to the spiders web to give it some dimension.

Pages 3 and 4 ~ Similar to the other album, the Halloween bag is a Quickuts 2x2 die that I inked and placed on with pop dots so the the tag would fit underneath it. On the opposite page I cut out 3 additional candy corn and placed them on with pop dots and added a little stickles for dimension. 

 

Pages 5 and 6 ~ I cut out the small black bat from another sheet of paper and placed him on with pop dots to add some dimension to page 6.

 

Pages 7 and 8 ~ The small folder has a journaling spot inside and I cut out a cats face and attached it with pop dots to the front of the folder. 

 

Pages 9 and 10 ~ The small black envelope contains a journaling spot. The small ghost is the same Quickutz die used on page 2.

Halloween Mini Album #1

I made this mini Halloween album to donate to the elementary school where my best friend's children attend. It will be raffled off at school's annual harvest festival.

I made the album using five small envelopes and the Recollections Halloween paper pack from Michaels.

This is the front and back cover. I placed ribbon along the spine.

The first two pages~ The small purple bat was cut out from another sheet of paper, inked around the edges, and attached with pop dots for dimension.

Pages 3 and 4, the ghost bag was cut using a 2x2 quickutz die and it was attached with pop dots so that the tag is able to slip underneath.

Pages 5 and 6, I cut the two small black bats out and attached them with pop dots for dimension. (Click on the photo for a larger view)

Pages 7 and 8, the file folder has a small journaling spot inside. I cut out three candy corns, from another piece of the paper, and attached them with pop dots, and added a little stickels for dimension.

These are the last two pages. The small ghost is from a quickutz 2x2 die. I inked him around the edges and put pop dots on the back for dimension.  The tags have journaling spots on the back.

When you remove the tags you get a surprise!

Pumpkin Cards

I made these cute pumpkin cards last year to attach to the pumpkin bread loaves that I made for friends and family. I was in the process of making a paper bag album and the bags were sitting on my desk and so I decided to use them as the card. I just took a bag and folded it in half , inked the edges, and decorated the front of the card. Fast and easy. Everyone raved about how cute the cards were.

So I decided to make a few more this year to send in the mail to far away relatives. I used the Recollections fall paper pack form Michaels, lunch bag size paper bags, a brown ink pad, pop dots, and my Quickutz 2x2 pumpkin die.

I'm off to make pumpkin bread! :)

Photo Clocks

I have been working on a couple altered photo clocks for Christmas presents this year. I wanted to post them but realized that I will have to wait until after Christmas. :) Luckily, I do have photos of two clocks that I made a couple years ago. I am not sure, but I think I got this idea from one of Donna Downy's "altered" books. I have this book and this one that I use for design ideas.

Both of the clocks that I am going to show you, were made with 9 x 12 rectangle wood plaques that I purchased at Michaels. I painted the edges to complement the papers that I was going to use on the face of each clock. You may also want to do a little sanding to smooth out any of the rough spots on the wood. Once the paint was dry, I decoupaged the main paper to the front of the wood or what will be the "face" of your clock. Then I decided on a placement for my clock mechanism, also purchased at Michaels, and carefully drilled the correct size hole, this varies depending on the size clock mechanism you purchase. I think Friskars makes a hand drill or you can use the hand held electric kind from the hardware store. Once the hole was drilled, I decorated the face of the clock. I used complementing papers, photos, and a quote, but the possibilities are limitless.

Here is a view of the first clock, before I put in the clock mechanism. This clock was for my best friend. At the time she was a single mom with two kids so I chose to put just the number 3, to signify the 3 of them, on the face. The photos are black and whites with distressed edges. The other papers are edged in black, the "love" is a rub-on and  I printed the quote on the paper.

Below is the second clock. I made this one for my aunt and uncle. The picture that I used was one that they took on their way to Sturgis. While looking for Harley and motorcycle themed paper, I  found a cool 12 x 12 inch piece of "tin" diamond paper. The other papers and sticker are from the Harley scrapbook collection and the photo was printed on this.

One note about these clocks. The clock mechanics is in a little box about 2" x 2" and 3/4" deep, so the plaque/clock cannot lay flush against the wall. There is a hanger on the box but depending on where you place the clock on your plaque, it may make it difficult to hang the clock level. I went to Ross and found two iron plate hangers, they worked perfectly. They both were white so I just sprayed the one I sent with the Harley clock, black.
