Design Team Thursday #9 ~ Joy's Life

Happy Thursday!

Today is Joyslife.com's design team Thursday.

I decided to make a 3-d card this week.

The papers are from Papertreyink.com and Cosmo Cricket.
The card base is from this svg cut file, I used Make-The-Cut and my Circut to cut it out at 5". I adjusted the svg file to create the two inset pieces. The flowers are a rolled rose cut file that I purchased from Shelly's blog. Again, I used Make-the-cut and my Cricut to cut them out, they were cut at 3", 2" and 1".
Alex and I made a video showing how to make them. Click here, if you would like to watch it.
The sentiment stamp is from Joyslife.com's Mother and Daughter Stamps.
The twine is from The Twinery.

Did you know that Joy is looking for designers?

DESIGN TEAM CALL FOR JOY'S LIFE!! It's about that time! I'm sad to see my Design Team go, but their term is almost up. I AM EXCITED to see who else might be interested in being part of the Joy's Life Design Team. I am looking for 5-8 people who would like to design with my stamps. You can't be part of any competitor stamp design teams during your Joy's Life DT term. You'd be on the DT from April 1 - June 30. I'm looking for scrapbookers, cardmakers and creative stamping crafters of ALL KINDS. You will receive my stamps for your crafting, so you don't have to already own them. :) Send a link to your blog and any info you think I need to designteamcall@joyslife.com . I look forward to hearing from you!

What are you waiting for?

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Black Eyed Susans

Happy Wednesday!

I can't believe that we are already half way thru the week!

I have been really busy, the last month or so, trying to get a laundry list of things done around my house. I guess you could say I have been "spring cleaning". It feels really good to get things cleaned out and re-organized.

Next up, is my scrapbook stuff... wish me luck!

This card has been on my Gypsy for awhile now and since I am in the mood for spring, I figured it was a good time to make it.
The top-note shape is a tag from the Sentimentals cart. I welded two of them together to form the base of the card. It was cut at 5.25" and the inset was cut at 4.75".
The vase of flowers is from the Country Living cart. It was cut at 4".
The twine is from here and the stamp is from here.

I have chosen three winners for the three giveaways/blog hops that I was in last week. I have already contacted them but I will post the names tomorrow, along with a new project for Joyslife.com. Have you seen her new stamps yet? You can see them here.

I hope you have a wonderful day!
See you tomorrow!

Information Saturday

Happy Saturday!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

I decided to make today's post a "catch up" post. Each week I get emails asking me a lot of the same questions, so I thought it might be helpful to answer them in a blog post.

This week I have had quite a few people email me about the personalized stamp that I used on the Jesus Love Me book, that I made.
I have had three custom stamps made. The one in the photo above,  one with my blog address, and one with my Etsy store address. They come unmounted but they have adhesive on the back. I just mounted them to a clear acrylic blocks, that I found at Michaels in the $1 bin.
I purchased my stamps from here.

I also get a lot of questions about the needle nose glue that I use. I love this glue! It dies really quickly and the needle nose applicator makes applying glue to small cricut cuts a breeze! It was the best $10 investment, with exception to my Martha Stewart scoreboard, that I ever made.
You can find the glue here and the applicator here.

The next question that I get is about Peachy Keen Stamps. There are so many sets that it can get a little overwhelming trying to decide what set to start with. There is no "right" answer to this question. Basically, I suggest getting a basic set that has all different expressions in it. There are three sets that I think would be a perfect, 1st set to have.

PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment

PK-540 Funshine Face Assortment

PK-570 Basic Paper Doll Face Assortment

All three of these sets are very generic, meaning that they could be used for a boy or a girl. They also each have a mixture of expressions. I think any one of the three sets above would make a perfect 1st set. It just depends on which one you like best.

I have a few other favorites as well.

PK-754 Critter Faces SET A Medium

This set is perfect if you cut a lot of animal cuts. Create a Critter, Give a Hoot, Live Simply, Paisley, Birthday Bash these faces work really well with all these carts. This set comes in four sizes; small, medium, large, and extra large. Medium is probably the best set to start with unless you normally cut your animals bigger then 3 1/2", then I would suggest getting the large set.

PK-640 Princess Face Assortment

This is the cutest set! It works perfectly with the Once Upon a Princess cart or any girlie cuts. There is also a coordinating boy set!

PK-642 Boy Mates Assortment

I love this set, it is perfect if you have little boys in your life.

Once you get a few basic sets that will work with anything, then it's fun to get a few of what I call "fun" sets. Here are a few of my favorites.

PK-692 Monster Mash Face Assortment

These faces are fun for the Mini Monsters, Paperdolls or any of the Halloween carts.
and...

PK-660 Laughy Taffy Face Assortment

These are really fun faces for the Rock Princess cart and to add to fruit and other non-human objects.

Last but not least... here are a few of the brand new sets that are quickly becoming my favorites.

PK-450 Wide Eyed Kids Face Assortment

and...

PK-757 Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Assortment

The assortment sets are your best deal. You will get 6-7 designs in 5 or 6 sizes, so that is 25 - 30 stamps per set. What is nice about having the different sizes is that you can cut your cricut cut at almost any size and you should have a face to work with that size.

My favorite white Pen to use to color in the eyes/face is:

White Gelly Roll Pen Medium Point

You can also find this pen at Michael's.

My favorite inks to use are:

Both of the above inks can be purchased online at Peachy Keen but you can also purchase them at Michael's and Joann's.

The chalk I use to color in the cheeks/face is:

I purchased my chalk set at Joann's with a 50% off coupon. I have seen the same set at Michael's too.

Also...

Create a Book Blog Hop!

If you are looking for the Ashley's Scrappin Palace Bloggaversary Hop click here!

Welcome to the Create a Book Blog Hop!

Today just happens to be March 2, which just happens to be "Read Across America Day" and in honor of the day we, at Joyslife.com, have decided to create books. If you have arrived here from Amanda's blog then you are on the right track. If you would like to start at the beginning, then click here.

I decided to make a book for my nephew. This is not my original idea. I saw a similar book, that someone made about 5 or 6 years ago, somewhere online. I made two for my BFF's two boys, for Christmas that year. She pulled them out a couple months back and we were looking at them. I had forgotten how cute they were.

So this blog hop was a perfect reason for me to make another book, for my nephew.
I used four lunch bags and my Cinch to make the book.
I printed all the words of the song on my printer. The paper is from BasicGrey.
Those are tags in the pocket on the page on the right side. I still need to add some ribbon to the top of them.
I am going to add photos of my nephew on each page.
I think this is the cutest little book! It's the perfect gift for a young child.

So no blog hop would be complete with out some sort of blog candy!
I am giving away a set of Peachy Keen, PK-643 Boy Mates 1-1/8"stamps.

All you have to do to be entered to win is:
1. Become a follower, if not already.

Ashley's Scrappin Palace Bloggaversary Hop!

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to Ashley's Scrappin Palace Bloggaversary Hop! If you have come from Tracy's blog then you are on th right track.  If you would like to start at the beginning, click here.

Ashely asked us to create a "spring" themed project. I have had a idea for a spring banner in my head for awhile now, so I decided that I would get it out of my head and design something on my Gypsy.

This is what I came up with.
I wanted the banner to have the look of spring flowers.
I used the Birthday Bash cart for the flower tags and the letters.
The tags were cut at 5" and the letters were cut at 3".
The butterflies were cut from the Create a Critter cart at 3 1/2". I used a stamp from the PK-460 Happy Lashes Face Assortment, for the face on each butterfly. It was strung with with some 6" white tulle.

So no blog hop would be complete with out some sort of blog candy!

I am giving away a set of Peachy Keen, PK-758 Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed - 1-1/8" stamps.

All you have to do to be entered to win is:
1. Become a follower, if not already.

That's it! I will choose a winner via Random.org on Friday night and announce the winner Saturday morning. Good Luck!
