Live Long and Prosper

Happy Monday!!!

I know! I know! I know... you're saying, "not another ornament".  Just one more, I promise this is my last ornament for 2013. Well... maybe I shouldn't promise that! Ha!

So... I have this friend who is a serious Trekkie.
5-5
I found the Star Trek logo online and traced it, sized it to 2.5" wide, and cut it out out of black vinyl. The font/lettering on the back was sized at 2.5" wide x 1.15" tall.

Ornament: Michael's
Glitter: Martha Stewart, Michael's

MCT Farewell Blog Hop!

Happy Friday!!!

Welcome to the My Creative Time Farewell blog hop! We are doing this hop to HONOR & send off the "current design team," in a fun way. Since all of us have become friends, we are doing one LAST blog hop together and making it a "Friendship"  theme.  If you have arrived from Rosie's blog, then you are on the right track. If you would like to start at the beginning, click here.

I'm so sad that our time as a dt is coming to an end. In the last two years, or so, we have become such a tight knit group. I am so thankful to have been a part of this amazing group of ladies, but just like my card say's, "we'll always be friends."
2-2
It's been awhile since I used a cut file from Lettering Delights. I saw this set and thought the birds were so cute! The faces were also big enough/had enough room to use peachie stamps, so that was a plus too. I sized both birds at 3 1/2" tall. The card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I used one of the edge dies on the right side of the card, to add a bit of interest.
1-1
Paper: PapTrey Ink & Simple Stories

Etched Soap Bottle

Happy Wednesday!!!

I have easy and inexpensive gift idea for you today. I love giving these bottles with a small bottle of dish soap. I love the look of them and that they dress up your sink area/kitchen a bit too.

The last couple of years I've seen on Pinterest, different ideas for dressing up the bottles. I thought this year I would make a few that are etched with the words "Dish Soap" on them, to give as gifts.
6-6
They are really easy to make. I designed the template in MTC and then cut it out on a piece of contact paper. You can use vinyl, but contact paper works just as well and it's cheaper then using vinyl.

I have the template, that I designed, below as a freebie. I have a link to the free font listed as well, just in case you want to download it. I sized the font at .6" tall, just in case you want to make your own template.

The etching process is fairly simple. You cut your template out of contact paper, apply it to whatever your etching, and then add the cream. Follow the directions on the side of the etching cream bottle, for length of time to leave the cream on.  Lastly, you wash away the cream with soap and water, pull off the contact paper, and walla! You have an etched masterpiece!

Bottle: Walmart
Contact Paper: Walmart
Etching Cream: Joanns (I used a 50% coupon)
Font: Zapata Light
Dish Soap Template: Freebie

See you back here tomorrow with another fun and easy etching project/gift!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Glitter Ornaments - Take Two

Happy Tuesday!!!

I have a few more ornaments to share with you today. I had a lot of fun making these. Although, vinyl can be a bit tricky... I think the more I use/work with it the easier it will be. I hope so anyway. :)
1-1
Z is all about Spiderman these days, so I had to make him an ornament. I found the cut file in the Happy SIL group on FB. The link to the file is below.
2-2
I found a free Spiderman type font online. The link to that is below as well.
1-1
I made this one for L. He is our little monster and so I figured Henry Hugglemoster fit him well. I found a free coloring page online and traced it in MTC. I have the file as a freebie below.
2-2
This font is called Mister Giggles and I thought it fit Henry well. It's a free font from 2Peas. The link is below.
5-5
My brother is a Nightmare fan, so looked online and found a drawing of this Jack. I traced it in MTC, and have the link to the freebie file below.
6-6
I found this Nightmare font online as well, it is also a free file and is listed/linked below.

~Product List~
Glass Ornaments: Michael's

Glitter Ornaments

Happy Wednesday!!!

I have been working on making Christmas presents the last couple weeks. I try to always make something handmade each year. At the last minute, on Sunday, I decided to make customized glitter ornaments because what's 30 more custom ornaments added to my list, right?
1-1
I bought the glass  ornaments at Michael's, they are on sale right now. Then I did the glitter technique. Michelle has a great video showing how it's done, here. Once I got my ornament glittered, I applied my Sofia. I found a free coloring page online, of Sofia, and converted/traced it in MTC, so that I could cut it  out of vinyl. I sized her at 2 1/2" tall.
3-3
I found the "Sofia the First" font online for free, so I downloaded it and cut Emily's name and the date in that. It's sized at 2"wide x 1 1/4" tall, her name is a bit bigger then the date.

I found the glitter ribbon on sale at Michael's.
11-11
Emily's brother is a fan on Minecraft, so I looked online and found this image. It was easily traced in MTC, sized at 2" tall and cut out of black vinyl.
12-12
I googled for a Minecraft font as well. I found this one... I am not 100% in love with it, but it works. I actually found a better one, the next day. I have the link to it below.
2-2
Ornaments: Michael's
Glitter: Martha Stewart, Michael's
Glitter Ribbon: Michael's
Mop and Glo: Target
Black Vinyl: My Vinyl Direct

I share a few more ornaments tomorrow!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Santa Countdown

Happy Tuesday!

A couple weeks ago I came across this Santa countdown idea on Pintrest. I thought it was so cute that I decided to make a couple for my nephew and his friends.
4-4
So basically, the child adds a cotton ball everyday until Christmas Eve, making it a fun and easy countdown. I love how the cotton balls make Santa's bread puffy and soft.

I used a MSC file for the Santa, the link is below. I sized him at 11.6" wide. I also added the holly from the snowman (in the same file), it was sized at 2.8" wide. I used lost of inking and foam tape for extra dimension. I used peachie stamps for the face and the numbers on his beard.
3-3
Here he is with a few cotton balls.

The kids are having fun adding a "puffy"each day.

Today is day 4 of my "treats" week and I have another fun treat for you today, that was made with one of the tag dies.
2-2
I think these would look so cute hanging all over a Christmas tree! I made it with two of the scalloped tag dies, there is a video below, showing how I made it. It's pretty simple, but much easier to explain on camera.

Day Three - 5 Days of Christmas!

Happy Wednesday!!!

Hello & welcome to our "5" Days of Christmas"!
This week we will be sharing w/you LOTS of last minute Christmas ideas, such as cards, layouts, home decor, 3-D items & what ever else come to mind that will help YOU get your juices flowing for the holiday!

Today is day 3 of my week of treats!
20-20
I took a gingerbread man cookie and placed him inside a glassine bag. I folded it over and secured it closed at the back with a piece of washi tape. Then I cut out the Medium Stitched Scalloped Bow Die and a piece of the same paper, was cut at 1 1/4" wide x 5" long. I secured the long piece of paper around the back and onto the front on each side, using glue dots. Then I placed the bow on the front, covering the edges of the paper, so it looks like the box continues all the way around the bag. Finally, I wrapped a bit of twine in the opposite direction and added a small tag, made with the  Teeny Tags Layering Dies and Teeny Tag Holidays stamp set.

Day Two - 5 Days of Christmas!

Happy Tuesday!!!

Hello & welcome to our "5" Days of Christmas"!
This week we will be sharing w/you LOTS of last minute Christmas ideas, such as cards, layouts, home decor, 3-D items & what ever else come to mind that will help YOU get your juices flowing for the holiday!

Since this week is "treat week", for me anyway, I thought it would be fun to make a treat for someone who might be more naughty then nice.
18-18
I found the coal at Wal-Mart in the seasonal candy isle, it was only $1 for a bag of 12 pieces. Three of the pieces fit perfectly inside the slider treat box. I slid the box/candy into a pretzel bag, the top part of the slider would have worked, but I like being able to see the coal/candy. I secured the bag on one side with some twine and made a quick card with the Stitched Round Tab, Arrow & Tag Dies and the A Day In December  and Honey Do List Stamp Sets.

Day one - 5 Days of Christmas!

Happy Monday!!!

Hello & welcome to our "5" Days of Christmas"!
This week we will be sharing w/you LOTS of last minute Christmas ideas, such as cards, layouts, home decor, 3-D items & what ever else come to mind that will help YOU get your juices flowing for the holiday!

I decided that my five days would focused on treats. Today's treat is a simple one.
11-11
I took two of the Stitched Round Tab, Arrow & Tag Dies and scored them both 1" up from the bottom of the tag. Second, I folded both of them back on themselves and then glued them together. Then I used the Treat Slider Box Die treat cover and secured it around the nugget and then used a glue dot to attach it inside the folded part of the tag. Lastly, tie the tags/cover closed with ribbon or twine and decorate your treat cover. I will have a video up on Thursday showing how to make it, just incase I lost you along the way.
