Tutorial Thursday - Smooshing Technique

10-10
Happy Thursday!!!
Today is Tutorial Thursday on the MCT blog. I made this cad using a technique called "smooshing". It's a fun watercolor technique and it's fairly simple to do.

Here is a quick video showing the "smooshing" process.

This is the card I made in the video. I love how the colors blended together.

Happy Wednesday!!!
Today is "Inspiration Wednesday"over on the MCT blog. I found this card on Pinterest and used it as inspiration for today's card.

I used my Zip Clean Color Water Brushes to create the sand/water background. I used the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More for the layers. The flip flops and sentiment are both from the Sit Back & Relax Stamp Set.

Crazy About You!

42-42
Happy Tuesday!!!

Today is stamp of the month "redux" on the My Creative Time blog. This months stamp of the month is the Bracket Sentiments Stamp Set.  I've always loved this card that Emma made, so I chose to use it as my "redux" inspiration.

I've always loved this heart paper, so I used it for the top layer. The diagonal stripe background paper was from the same pad. I used the smallest rectangle in the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More set for the heart piece. I had to change up the design a bit to make it fit, but I really like how it tuned out. I added some clear seed beads and iridescent heart glitter to the shaker part. I stamped it with the same sentiment and of course I had to add a bit of twine.

Scrap the Little Things

1-1
Happy Monday
Today is Scrapping the Little Things over on the MCT blog. I have another quick mini spread to share with you today. I really love the smaller 4x4 albums. They're perfect for me. I can quickly scrap a picture or two, journal, place them in the page protectors, and I'm done. I've always been a fan of the 8x8 albums, but I've been falling further and further behind with my pictures. Since buying these 4x4 albums, I've been able to stay up to date. Woohoo!

A Little Something - Redo

37-37
Happy Thursday!!!
Today is "Do Over" day on the MCT blog. I posted this card on Monday. I really like how it turned out, but I got a few other ideas after I had made it, so I decided to use it as my "do over" card today.

I used the white linen card stock from Papertrey Ink. I love the look of it and need to use it more. I use the  Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More for the base pieces, just like on Monday's card. I used the same sentiment from the Hello Baby Stamp Set, but I used some Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder instead. It has a gorgeous simmer to it, plus I just love silver! I cut out the same flowers and leaves, but I stamped them with some matching ink and background stamps. I think it really helps to add a bit more interest and texture. I also washed them with some Wink of Stella so they are really glittery. You can't tell from the photos but they really sparkle. I also added a few more flowers and changed where I placed them on the card

This would make a beautiful wedding or anniversary card as well, if it had an appropriate sentiment.

Pencil Treat

25-25
Happy Wednesday!!!
Today is "What a Treat" Wednesday over on the MCT blog. Z starts kindergarten in August and so I thought I would make him and his friends a treat for their 1st day of school. He loves Spider-man, so when I saw these pencils I knew they would make a great 1st day of school treat.

I placed two pencils in each treat bag and then topped them with an oval tag. I cut the ovals out of kraft card stock with my  Scalloped Stitched Oval Dies. I stamped the pencil background with the pencil stamp, using kraft ink, from the Write On Stamp SetThe sentiment is from the same set.

Happy Tuesday!!!!
Today is Tag it Tuesday on the MCT blog. I made a quick tag to add to a small thank you gift for a friend. I bought her a bag of her favorite coffee, so I made a coordinating coffee tag to attach to the bag.

The floral background was stamped with a stamp from the All You Need Is Coffee Stamp Set, the mug and heart are also from that set. The sentiment is from a older set called You Are Perk-fect.

I used the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More for the pink layer and then stamped a sentiment from the new Hello Baby Stamp Set. I did use clear embossing powder over the ink, to give it a it of gloss. I cut the flowers and leaves from the Stitched Pretty Flowers & Leaves DiesIt was a really quick and easy card to make.

My Creative Time July Release

11542073_10205996434103256_8696619456281379089_n
Happy Friday!!!
Today is My Creative Time's release day. What a fun week it's been, full of new products and lots of fun inspiration! I know that I've had a lot of fun viewing the sneaks each day. If you've arrived from super fabulous Nikki's blog, then you are on the right track, if you would like to start at the beginning, click here.
1-1
This first card was made with the new My Thoughts are With You stamp and die set. I made a Christmas shaker card with the mason jar die, the Boughs of Holly Stamp Set and Winter Cheer Stamp Set. I filled it with some flake glitter and 4mm clear sequins.
6-6
My second card was also made with the My Thoughts are With You stamp and die set, the  older Build A Pretty Flower Stamp Setand Surf's Up Stamp Set's. I used the "mirror stamping" technique for the seahorse on the right. You can see a video showing how it's done here. The video shows how to use your MISTI, but you don't have to have a MISTI to do the technique, in fact I didn't use my MISTI when I stamped him. Here's one showing how without the MISTI. My seahorse didn't come out as clear as the original, but it looks pretty good. I didn't have a pen that matched the color ink I used, or I would have colored him in a bit. Next time I use this technique,  I will use black or brown ink so that I can touch it up if I need to.

My Creative Time Hey There Little Lady Sneak

11542073_10205996434103256_8696619456281379089_n
 Happy Thursday!!!
Today is the last day of sneaks for the My Creative Time July release. The set we are sneaking today is called Hey There Little Lady. It's a darling stamp and coordinating die set.
21-21
I made a fun shaker card for today's project. I used the large wavy circle from the Bunch of Fun Circle Dies for the base of the card. The yellow piece was made with the largest circle and the 4th sunburst die (smallest starburst die with stitching on both sides). The love bugs, leaves, and blue background were all colored with my Zig watercolor markers. The sentiment is from today's set. I stamped it with Opaque StazOn Ink onto clear card stock from PTI. It's easier to see in person, unfortunately it didn't photograph very well. The opaque/white is harder to see on lighter backgrounds... I probably should of used black, but I still really like how it turned out.

5-5
My card is made with the You're a Great Catch stamp & die set. I used the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More set and then used my Zig watercolor marker #034 and my water brush to give the look of ocean water. I used the silver Wink of Stella brush to color the fish hook, so it has a bit of sparkle and is silver like an real hook.

11542073_10205996434103256_8696619456281379089_n
Happy Tuesday!!!
Today is day 2 of sneaks for the My Creative Time July release. The set we are sneaking today is called My Thoughts are With You. It's a stamp and coordinating die set. This new set has this fun little mason jar, some flowers to fill it with, some sympathy/thinking of you type sentiments, and two coordinating dies.
1-1
I made this tag to send to a friend. I used my Zig watercolor markers to color in the jar and flowers. I used PTI's kraft paper instead of watercolor paper, so I used the markers without any additional water. The paper held the color pretty nicely and I was able to blend without any problems, not not sure how the paper would have handled the water though. I added the butterflies from the All Around Holidays Spring & Summer Stamp Set and the banner is from the The Sky is the Limit Stamp Set.

Happy Monday!!!
Today is day 1 of sneaks for the My Creative Time July release. The set we are sneaking today is called the Stitched Starburst Dies. It's a set of stacking starburst dies.
12-12
I used the smallest starburst die and the smallest circle in the Bunch of Fun Circle Dies to create flowers for today's card. The leaves are from the Stitched Pretty Flowers & Leaves Dies and I used background stamps from the Coffee Break Stamp Set and Build a Banner Kit to add patterns to my paper.

My card kind of reminds me of Mary Englebright's designs.
