Back to School Teacher Gift

Happy Friday!

I have one last back to school project for you today.

I actually saw the idea for this on Jill's blog. I thought it was so cute and I knew that I wanted to make my sister in law one for her desk at school.
1-1-1
Jill put books in her box, but I thought it would work great to hold pens, pencils, scissors, and rulers (ha!). I found some round glass candle votive's (4"tall x 4"diameter) at the .99 Store, I bought three of them. They fit inside the box perfectly and each one can hold something different.

Want to know how to make them!?!
4-4
I bought the rulers at the .99 Store. They come 4 in a pack and I needed 6 packs. You will need 42 - 6" rulers, so you will need to cut each ruler in half. I used my jigsaw, to cut them, but a skill saw or table saw would work too.
5-5
Once all my pieces were cut, I hotted glued them to my box. You can also use wood glue to attach them. I had hot glue, so that is what I used. I used 15 on both the front and back (30 total) and 6 on each side/end (12 total), so overall I used 42 rulers. Some of the rulers had holes in them, so that is why I added the ribbon along the bottom, it was to cover the two row of holes.
3-3-3
The black board (Stitched 3x4 Journal Dieand letter dies (Lowercase Fun Dies) are both from My Creative Time. The chevron apple cut is from the Silhouette store.
2-2-2
Wood Box - Michael's
Ruler's - .99 Store (4 in a pack, 6 packs needed)
Ribbon - Joanns
Lowercase Fun Dies
Stitched 3x4 Journal Die
Chevron Apple Cut - Silhouette Store

I love how it turned out, I sure hope my SIL does too!

Next week is new release week for My Creative Time. We will be sneaking peaking projects all week and then Friday is the release blog hop! It's another super fun release! I cannot wait to show you my projects!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Candy Treats

Happy Wednesday!

Today is 3-d Wednesday on the My Creative Time blog.

I thought it would be fun to make some Halloween treats.  I made two different treats. Both have four nuggets wrapped, stamped, slipped into a bag, and closed at the top.
IMG_8742-1
The above treat was sealed shut with the XL Label Die, it was folded in half , stamped with the sentiment, and then I wrapped a bit of twine around the top.
IMG_8747-1
This treat was shut with some twine and I added the newest tag die with a few sentiments.

Scrappy Monday!

Happy Monday!

Today is Scrappy Monday over on the My Creative Time blog.

Last week I shared a layout with you that I made for my nephew's 1st day at preschool. Once I saw all the great photo's my brother captured, I decided to revise the layout on a bigger page. I love that Project Life pages makes that so easy to do!
1-1-1
Much better then last weeks, no?
2-2
The "Thumbs up for Preschool" speech bubble is a image from the Silhouette store. I opened it on my mat, sized it to the size I needed, then I typed the phrase, and went through the print and cut process. I love my Cameo!

I don't know if you noticed, but we told Zachary to give the "thumbs up" sign and he used his pointer fingers. LOL We thought it was so cute, so we didn't correct him. :)

Back to School Week - Day 5

Happy Friday!

Whew! What a week!
So... today is the last day of Back-to-School week, here on the blog. I still have a few ideas rolling around in my head, so you may see a couple more projects over the next couple weeks.

Today's project is a quick and easy teacher's gift.
IMG_8728-1
It's just a paper bag folded not quite in half, I left about 1 1/2" of the back showing. Then I attached some paper to the front, tied it together with some twine, embellished it, and filled it with some fun goodies. You could also slip a gift card in the front part of the bag, for an extra special treat.

Quick, easy, and so cute!

Back to School Week - Day 4

Happy Thursday!

Today is Thoughtful Thursday over on the My Creative Time blog.

My nephew is a senior in high school and on the football team. Since this is his last year, I made a card and small thank you gift for his football coach.
IMG_8711-1
I tired to keep the card masculine and in the school's blue/grey colors. I am not in love with it, but it will serve it's purpose.
IMG_8731-1
I love making these post-it note holders!

Here is a quick tutorial showing how to make the Post-it note holder.

Here is a tutorial showing how to make/trace a sports logo in Make-the-Cut.

Hopefully, his coach will like it!

Back to School Week - Day 3

Happy Wednesday!

Today is day 3 of my Back-to-School week. I have a fun altered item for you today.

These fun altered clothes pins make a great "Welcome Back" gift for any teacher.
IMG_8715-1
These were super easy to make!
I took some scrap papers and cut them 1/4"or so wide and attached them with a bit of Mod Podge. Then I sanded the edges with a medium weight nail file, until I had the effect I liked. (You could ink them at this point, if you wanted... I like the non-inked look, so I went with that.) Once I was happy with the look of them, I stamped the sentiments on each one,  this could be done first... before you glue the paper down. Anywhoo... either way will work. Lastly, I placed a small magnet to the upper back of each one, so that they can be placed and used on a fridge or filing cabinet, if the recipient wishes. I used E600 to attach it.
IMG_8718-1
I took the 3x3 Trifold Card and scored it, from the pointy top, down  3 3/8",  3 5/8", and 7 1/4". Then folded it in on itself and attached the clothes pins. (See photo above to figure out how to fold it) I used a bit of twine to secure them to the back, so that it won't flip open. I also added a small tag that I made with the Chunky Jar Accessories Set.

Back to School Week - Day 2

Happy Tuesday!

Today is day 2 of Back-to-School week. I have another fun project for you today. This would make a perfect gift for... well anyone really, but since teacher's just happen to come in contact with lots of germ's this makes a great back-to-school gift.

All you need is a 12oz container of hand sanitizer (Target) and a pint sized Mason jar. I found the limited edition blue jars at Ace Hardware (they had the best price), but I have also seen them at Michael's too. You could also use the regular clear glass jars, but the person I am gifting this too likes blue.
IMG_8702-1

I took a 3/4" drill bit and drilled a hole in the center top of the jar. The white pump from the hand sanitizer fits snugly into the hole. Then pour the sanitizer into the jar and you're in business!
IMG_8703-1
Then just dress it up a bit with some twine/ribbon and a fun tag. Wrapping it with ribbon in school colors would be super cute!

Much cuter then setting the plastic Purell bottle on the desk, no? It can easily be refilled too!

Happy Friday!

I have another quick card for you today!
IMG_8659-1
I made this card for a friend who is training to run a marathon in the fall. I know that it isn't very "athletic" looking, but I wanted it make something different. I had this idea in my head and I think the bright colors are cheery and fun. I love how it turned out and I hope she likes it too.
